Benue in trouble again: as herdsmen are trooping in mass number.
Reports reaching us has has it that herdsmen are again moving in to Benue state in mass number which has raised a cause of worry to the people of the state.
This issue is alarming as the people fear a prospect of the 2018 new year massacre which claimed so many lifes and properties in Guma and Logo local government area of the state .
Their movement is suspected to be as a result of the Withdrawer of the military operation code named Operation Whirl Stroke by the federal government from the state early this year.
The state especially people from Agatu, Guma, Logo and other local government area of the state are in fear of a looming attack by the herdsmen when this operation is gone.
The people call on the federal government to suspend the plan of winding down the operation until peace returns fully to the state as promised by the federal government and the people in the IDPs camps would be able to return to their ancestral homes and resettled.
Recalling, that the federal government through the visit of the Vice President in 2018 had promised to resettle the IDPs and up till now nothing has been done to have the people return to their ancestral homes.
Without the federal government doing that, we cannot really say peace has fully returned in the communities because a people who are displaced and taking shelter in camps are in pains and not at peace with themselves let alone with others.”
We plead that the federal government should look in to this matter.
