Two Chinese, who were supervising government
projects at Uburu community, in Ohaozara Local
Government Area of Ebonyi State have been
kidnapped by unknown gunmen
The gunmen abducted the victims, whose names
were yet to be identified at the time of filing this
report and whisked them away to an unknown
destination.
Investigation revealed that the kidnappers invaded
the scene where the expatriates were supervising
government projects along with an in-law to the
governor, Chief David Umahi.
It was gathered that the kidnappers were shooting
sporadically to scare people away, in order to
capture their victims.
But, the governor’s in-law quickly alerted the
police, who responded swiftly and
followed him to pursue the kidnappers but it was
unfortunate that the kidnappers overpowered
them.
A source, who spoke to DAILY POST on the
condition of anonymity, said the bullets from the
gunmen damaged the governor’s in-law’s car but
they didn’t sustain any serious injury.
When contacted for confirmation, the Police
Public relations officer, Ebonyi police command,
DSP, Loveth Odah said she was not too sure of
the kidnap incident.
She, however, assured of the preparedness of the
command to get into the remote cause of such
incident in the area.
“Maybe you can call me back because what I
would tell you is in this phone. You can call back,
so that I can extract the information and tell you,”
she stated.
